Dr. Chapin served as Kansas Delegate to the White House Conference on Aging The mission of the White House Conference on Aging (WHCoA) is to identify important issues regarding aging and to make recommendations on how to address them. This conference was the 5th since 1961 and is typically held every decade. Governors, members of Congress, the National Congress of American Indians and the WHCoA Policy Committee collectively select about 1,200 delegates for the conference. A list of 73 resolutions were developed prior to the conference and 50 were chosen to make the final list of resolutions during the conference. President Bush and Congress will be presented with a final report from the Conference by June 2006. To learn about the resolutions and conference in more detail go to www.whcoa.gov

Assisting them in their efforts were four of the state's leading authorities on mental health and aging: Nancy Trout of the Shepherd's Center, Jean Holthaus of Prevention and Recovery Services, Nancy Luber of Johnson County Mental Health Center, and Annette Graham of Central Plains Area Agency on Aging. All are graduates of the School of Social Welfare. Thank you, Nancy, Jean, Nancy, and Annette, for your willingness to travel to Great Bend to share your expertise with training participants!
