An Internship and Stipend Opportunity

for Master’s of Social Work Students

 in Aging-related Field Practicums*

           The Office of Aging and Long-term Care, in conjunction with the Field Education Office, is pleased to announce funding received through the John A. Hartford Foundation to participate in a university-community partnership called, “The Partnership for Productive Aging Education.” The program’s goal is to increase the number of graduate social work students with expertise in aging.

           Students who are accepted into the Regular Master’s in Social Work degree program are eligible to apply. In conjunction with local community agencies that specialize in serving older adults, Master’s level social work students will rotate in their Foundation level year through field agencies that provide exposure to a wide range of experiences with diverse groups of older adults, and participate in aging-related leadership activities. After successful completion of the Foundation year in the Master’s program, students are eligible for an internship stipend for the advanced year of the Master’s Program.            Current agencies partnering with the School of Social Welfare where students may be placed include: Johnson County Area Agency on Aging; Jewish Family & Children’s Services; Westport Cooperative Services; The Alzheimer’s Association; Wyandotte/Leavenworth County Area Agency on Aging; Johnson County Nursing Center; & The Phoenix Family Housing Corporation.
